SAE 321 · Titanium-Stabilised Austenitic Chromium-Nickel Steel
A chromium-nickel stainless steel with titanium addition – enhanced resistance to intergranular corrosion and high temperatures while retaining non-magnetic properties. Tennant Metall supplies 1.4544 (SAE 321) in tested quality ex stock Herne – for aerospace, chemical and fuel industries.
What is SAE 321?
1.4544 (SAE 321) is a chromium-nickel stainless steel with titanium addition, characterised by increased hardness, elasticity, retained non-magnetic properties and resistance to intergranular corrosion and elevated temperatures. The material shows high resistance to nitric acid, nitrate salts at high concentrations and temperatures, cold salt solutions, toluene, sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid, formic acid and a large proportion of organic acids.
Notable is the very good impact resistance at low temperatures, sufficient ductility, and the titanium-enhanced resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. 1.4544 is also characterised by good weldability. Tennant Metall supplies the grade solution annealed, on request including cutting to size and a 3.1 mill certificate per EN 10204.
