PH13-8Mo · Martensitic Precipitation-Hardening Cr-Ni-Mo Steel
A high-purity, martensitic precipitation-hardening Cr-Ni-Mo stainless steel with an exceptional combination of ultra-high strength, toughness and corrosion resistance. Tennant Metall supplies PH13-8Mo in tested quality ex stock Herne – for the most demanding components in aerospace, defence and petrochemical applications.
What is PH13-8Mo?
PH13-8Mo (material number 1.4534) is a corrosion-resistant special steel with a martensitic structure that is subjected to precipitation hardening and exhibits excellent mechanical properties. Vacuum melting and remelting (VIM/VAR) achieve a particularly pure, tightly controlled microstructure with very low sulphur and phosphorus content.
In aggressive environments PH13-8Mo shows very good resistance to salt water, nitric acid and sodium hydroxide, combined with high hardness, strength and crack resistance. Tennant Metall supplies the grade either solution annealed or in various aged conditions (H950 to H1150), on request including machining and a 3.1 mill certificate per EN 10204.

| H1150 | 1070 N/mm² | 1000 N/mm² | 14 % |
Typical values per AMS 5629 for the aged condition. In the solution-annealed condition (Condition A) the material is comparatively soft and readily machinable.
3 · Heat Treatment
Typical Values| Solution Annealing | 927 °C, 15–30 min, air/oil |
| Aging (H950–H1150) | 510–620 °C, 4 h, air |
| Forging | 1177–1204 °C |
Typical values per AMS 5629. The aging temperature determines the resulting strength level (H950 = highest strength, H1150 = highest toughness).
