A quenched and tempered steel with a well-balanced combination of strength, toughness and good weldability. Tennant Metall supplies 25CrMo4 in tested quality ex stock Herne – for highly stressed components in aerospace, motorsport, defence and mechanical engineering.
What is 25CrMo4?
25CrMo4 (material number 1.7218) is a chromium-molybdenum alloyed quenched and tempered steel per EN 10083-3. The moderate carbon content provides good weldability, while chromium and molybdenum improve hardenability and toughness even at low temperatures. Internationally, the grade is also known as AISI/SAE 4130, JIS SCM430 or BS 708A25.
25CrMo4 is used wherever force-transmitting components must withstand high load cycles – for example crankshafts, steering knuckles, turbine components or highly stressed fasteners. Tennant Metall supplies the grade in either the annealed or quenched-and-tempered condition, on request including heat treatment, machining and a 3.1 mill certificate per EN 10204.
